We spent a few days in August along the shores of Lake Superior in Ashland, Wisconsin. One highlight of the trip was a sunset boat tour of the Apostle Islands!
The water carved these amazing sea caves by wearing away the softer rock. We were there just as the sun was illuminating them a golden red color. A truly beautiful sight.
We also took a short hike. In a thunderstorm...the main reason the hike turned short...that, and the killer mosquitos.
Soren was tuckered after so much fresh air. Our final day we swung by Bayfield, Wisconsin to pick some juicy, sweet blueberries. Soren ate a ridiculous amount, saying "mmm mmm mmm" on repeat.
We managed to get a few in the bucket. It was fun! And made us excited for apple season so we can go picking again. While in Ashland we also went to a concert at the Big Top Chautauqua (and the concert was SO LOUD! so we played frisbee outside and just listened). And we ate good food, drank some microbrew, visited the local coop and awesome bakery, and checked out all the playgrounds in the area. It was a super great mini-vacation!
